IPGS is two years young.
IPGS Calls now for PostGenetics 1st World Congress

Why?

ENCODE is US-Government Dominated
8 Main reasons why Post-ENCODE Genomics (PostGenetics) can not properly function if dominated by any government-agency

No Country (not even the USA) is universally accepted to monopolize crucial global issues
Organizational restrictions & conditions by any Government (including US) may not be acceptable to some
Other regions of the World must be given a chance to exercise, or freely participate in, leadership
Global Industrial Participation must be unrestrained by any Government (including US)
Global Venture Capital must be able to freely attend to evaluate investment opportunities: "due diligence"
Publishers (Worldwide) must be free to participate in the PostModern Press of "Genomics beyond ENCODE"
World Media must have unrestrained access to preparation and coverage
Advocacy Groups to fight particular "Junk DNA diseases" must have their interests represented in a united manner

Two years ago, September 1st, 2005 IPGS was established, as scientific evidence gathered since 1972 that "Junk DNA" was anything but 98.7% of (human) DNA to be discarded. On the 12th of October, 2006 IPGS was the first organization in the World to formally abandon the "Junk DNA" misnomer as a scientific term on its "European Inaugural" in Budapest, Hungary.

The singular goal of PostGenetics ("Genomics beyond Genes"); putting "Junk DNA" and diseases it causes as "priority number one", as any and and all paradigm-shifts, met some initial resistance (including refusal without peer-review to print its scientific conclusions, as by December, 2006 could have become "the year of the death of Junk DNA"). Also, an unprecedented trans-disciplinary effort is called for, with Information Technology contributing to a veritable scientific revolution. Nonetheless, IPGS certainly accelerated the early publication of 2003-2004 "ENCODE" (a US-Government organization [NIH-led] consortium of 11 Countries, the First Report originally planned for September 2007, appeared in an accelerated manner by June 14th).

The singular goal is not only scientific, but will affect hundreds of millions suffering from "Junk DNA diseases" (i.e. syndromes caused not by "genes" where even the definition of "genes" needs now a "definition update").

IPGS at this point has 60 Founders, and its membership altogether represents 34 Countries. After the ground-breaking "European Inaugural" held October 2006, IPGS calls for free and unrestricted Membership applications, additional nomination and selection of the above categories, as IPGS enters its 3rd year.

A paradigm-shift can never be expeditiously implemented by "diffusion" of incremental metamorphosis, e.g. obsolete definitions "updated". Sustaining technologies are usually not capable of leading disruptive technologies. The most
important scientific/technological/social revolution of the history of science will change a reluctant establishment
