International PostGenetics Society was originated as an avant-guard organization by A. Pellionisz on the 1st of September, 2005. IPGS, with 40 Founders over 32 countries on 5 continents IPGS held its European Inaugural on October 12, 2005 in Budapest, Hungary. Thus, it became the first organization to have abandoned the "Junk DNA" notion as a scientific term - 8 months before the US government released the NIH "ENCODE" pilot results on June 14, 2007.
In 2008 Genomics became Informatics.
In 2009, on the 100th Anniversary of coining the term "Gene". IPGS is morphing into the mainstream organization of "International HoloGenomics Society". HoloGenomics is defined as "Genomics plus Epigenomics expressed in Informatics".
