International PostGenetics Society was filed to the Secretary of State of California (1st of September, 2005).
Founders, (40) together with a rapidly growing Members (below) represent by December 2006 over 32 Countries on 5 Continents (overlapping). Majority affiliation is from Europe, with the USA representing about half of the IPGS Founders, but the USA is behind Europe in the roster: PGS and held their "European Inaugural" on the 12th of October, 2006 in Budapest, Hungary.
A clear trend is that regions less endowed compared to the USA wish to leapfrog in a paradigm-shift, by directly jumping into "the PostModern era of Genetics", PostGenetics ("Beyond Genes"). Thus, membership includes even one of the 5 poorest countries in the World.
The single agenda of International PostGenetics Society is to put first priority on formerly "junk" DNA as an organized effort.
Within that goal, IPGS promotes awareness of the central role of formerly "junk" DNA in an integrative view of the genome, broader than genes alone.
IPGS also serves to inform government and the private sector of the utility of total genome information in all aspects of PostGenetics; PostGenetic Medicine, and the integration of "biotechnology, nanotechnology and information technology".
